To IE9 dev team,
Performance, HTML5, SVG... Those are all OK. But, there is another thing we (or I only) want you guys to focus. Memory footprint. Take a look at Task Manager when IE8 is running. "Here she comes. She's a memory-eater!"
For instance, I'm using Firefox 3.6 all the time WITH MORE THAN 60 TABS open, yes 60 tabs. And it takes about 400 MB of working set of memory, on average. 400 MB for 60 tabs. Truly not bad. IE8? See for yourself.

I truly love silverlight but this silverlight player along with the one on Channel 9 suck.
They are forever buffering, I'm looking at the progress bar more than the actual video. I watch youtube on this same pc and network without any buffering.

The streaming worked great a few minutes ago, but now there is some kind of bandwidth problem, so Merill it isn't the player, something has happened to the network or back end streaming servers. I would guess it is a European problem, at least for me as I seem to be hitting European servers

I don't know if I am the only one that gets this problem, but streaming doesn't work on this file, download HQ doesn't work either (404).
the filename in the link is wrong: i get kyn02-pgm.wmv, KEY02.wmv works though.

Key note day2 not working properly HQ version doesnt load at all; the other version stops playing < 30 minutes in

Please fix this video stream! The player stops every few seconds to buffer for a few minutes! It's unwatchable.

What happened to IIS adaptive streaming? What happened to elastic-on-demand-cloud-platform which can be scaled at will?
Is MSFT aware of the poroblems?

This is crazy, I've tried to watch the video over three days now and just can't get it to load. I have to agree with others, the user experience has been really bad and is a bad reflection on what should be great technology. The downloads don't even work properly either. Perhaps you could break each component into a smaller video for download, that way I might actually stand a chance of watching this keynote. I hope it's worth it after all this frustration!!!

Not lowres, download, every type of video fails.

Issue is with ALL videos.
Some acknowledgement like 'We are working on it' will do lot good. Just need to know if we should come back in a day, week or should we just give-up...

If your technology and tools are any good, it shouldn't take more than 24 hours to find the problem and fix it.

Getting better...
Most of the videos are streaming fast for first 30 minutes. Right around 30 minutes the performance cliffs down to rock bottom, and from then on it buffering for 10 seconds after every 2 seconds of video.
Issue is same watching online as well as downloading the content. Right around mid-point the download freezes.
Hope this helps to revolve the issue...

The issue with buffering has nothing to do with Silverlight. It turns out that the demand was way higher than the CDN was prepared for. Mike Swanson discusses the issue at http://blogs.msdn.com/mswanson/.

The video is working well now over a 700Kb DSL line with IE8, Silverlight, and Windows 7. When it has been working, the video in these Mix presentations has been noticeably better than past Microsoft conferences.
